Christmas tournament: 4th place for Schachfreunde München e.V.
(rh) At the Christmas-tree tournament, which stood in for the cancelled Christmas tournament, we achieved excellent results. We sent three teams of ten registered players each into the race and made up more than a tenth of the field of 42 teams, since on average those fielded far fewer than the maximum of ten players per team. The first team was the only one of ours to reach the semi-final and then the final too. Reinforced by two newcomers, Benedikt and Diana, the team took the thankless but excellent 4th place — congratulations! The second team (36th overall) and the third team (23rd overall) each finished 5th in their preliminary groups, with the third team narrowly missing qualification for the semi-final.
