U16 World League: good result (4th place) despite squad training camp and Friday action in the DSOL
(rh) On Saturday we played with fifteen players in the league. Given the fact that on the weekend at least five regulars were missing because of the squad training camp and the simultaneously held Girls Battle, the sheer number of players present was already a success. Only Benedikt was able to combine the squad training camp with the league; in the arena tournament held beforehand he did not give up a single point against six opponents and was looking for stronger opponents here. He also started well and was able to cross the 2000 mark, just like Arthur. We thus temporarily had two players over 2000 in the team. In the first third we came within five points of the leading Leningrad team in second place. But there was a point, after about 80 minutes, from which collecting points became particularly difficult. Some did not last the two hours and left the tournament early. Above all, Arthur was missing from the team in the final phase. We slipped to 5th place. In the end, after the neck-and-neck race with two other teams, only two points separated us from promotion.
That was no disappointment at all; the promotions can wait. It is also the case that one league higher up, ten players would already count toward the scoring, and that will be the next challenge.
