Kelheim Cup tournament: dress rehearsal for 14 February
(rh) On Monday the new portal, on which one can play team matches via Lichess, was used for the first time in two larger tournaments, the U1300 and the open Kelheim small cup tournament. We had to keep the Zoom call running for questions etc. and I did not get around to twitching; with three teams thrown together within a day and a half, that was no wonder either. We had plenty to do, so that streaming could not be considered. In any case, we are now well prepared for the big day on 14 February.
On this day the Christmas tournament, which could not be held on 28 December, is to be officially made up, and at the same time the independence of the German Chess Youth is to be celebrated, which is why it is also the DSJ founding tournament. We look forward to this event and to the fact that we were allowed to get to know the software and how it works in advance.
Now briefly to the sporting side. For the open tournament we had registered a strong youth team. It kept up well, was temporarily in 7th place, but had to play the last two rounds with only three players. 9th place out of 14 teams was fine in the end.
In the U1300 category we were able to establish ourselves right at the top with one team. The last two rounds were unfortunate, however, so that we ended up in 4th and 9th place here.
