Report on the U8 World League: Stefan and Anton surprise
(rh) Before the match I invited all our young chess players to a Zoom call. That has recently become our coaching zone at arena tournaments. The younger ones of our chess players in particular should be encouraged between rounds. This time Stefan and Emilia were in the meeting and brought joy with their style of play. Stefan reported beaming after every win, and Emilia, although she lost her first game against an experienced opponent rated over 1700, then played exemplarily and almost flawlessly against two hopelessly inferior opponents. After three games the entry into the arena tournament system had succeeded and was for now complete. We look forward to Emilia at the next matches.
The surprise was that our active members Stefan and Anton this time placed themselves at the top of the scorer list, while our established players Azat, Leon and Sepas scored fewer points despite better performances. Gwendolyn and Seraphina also diligently collected points, and Maxim also achieved his first win.
