Lots going on again today: Tegernheim Friendship Cup (U12 and U18) and in the DSOL with Schachfreunde München e.V. IV against SV Isental II and Schachfreunde München e.V. VI against SV Lauf III
(rh) We have been taking part in the Tegernheim Friendship Cup for over half a year and are happy about every participation. The matches are currently held once a month.
Thursday’s match could go down in history. For the first time it was streamed, and Niklas Huschenbeth joined in on his live stream and analyzed some games and the standings. He also noticed Blitzschweif, who with his fast play caused our team in the U12 tournament to lose contact with the top three places — more on that later.
The U18 team played from 5:30 pm. Since the U12 tournament only started at 6 pm, Benedikt warmed up here, which he did well with two wins. The team was convincing and took fourth place out of 18 teams. The performance, at 1733, was above average. Ardian stood out with 27 points; he would have had the best chance of being allowed to challenge Niklas Huschenbeth. In the end, however, 23 points were still missing for that. Diana, for her part, had won all her games and had also warmed up for the match in the DSOL, where she was deployed.

The U12 team was in the leading places at the start of the tournament. Benedikt led the team. However, in arena tournaments there are turning points that cannot be explained; when negative streaks set in for many of one’s own team at the same time and the top scorers of other teams hit their stride, the standings change dynamically. In the strongest group we ended up in the stable midfield in the end. The positive news was: Moritz and Daniel fitted into the team well. Stefan, the youngest, played through and increased his rating at a 50% win probability.

On 11 March the Friendship Cup continues!
In the evening Schachfreunde München e.V. IV played against SV Isental II and Schachfreunde München e.V. VI against SV Lauf III.
In the fourth team’s match, the opponent’s players who had shortly before also taken part in the U12 tournament were playing. That was a fluid transition, since the Tegernheim Friendship Cup ran until 7:30 pm. With Arthur, Fabian, Diana and Alexander we also fielded a youth team, which was, however, somewhat older.
Unfortunately Alexander was unable to free himself from his slump in form and had to resign first. On the other boards exciting games developed. Diana acted confidently and was able to decide the game in her favour with nice mating threats. Fabian managed to trap his opponent’s queen and thus decided the game for himself. Arthur was able to build up his king attack with two rooks and a knight in such a way that his opponent could no longer escape the mating net. So we won 3 to 1.
In the team Schachfreunde München e.V. VI everyone was convincing except David, who, probably due to his participation in the U12 tournament (see also the Isental players!!!), left his game hanging. It could be the rule that after a 90-minute rapid tournament one needs half an hour of recovery, as Diana had it, to muster the necessary concentration for a long game.
All in all it was an intense match day with over 30 participating youths on our side, a fourth and a sixth place, and two team wins in the DSOL!
