Surprisingly clear win for Schachfreunde München e.V. VI against Birkenfeld III: chapeau to the team
(ab) In the 3rd round Schachfreunde München e.V. VI faced the nominally strongest opponent in group 12C, SF Birkenfeld III. All the more remarkable was that a superior win of 3.5 to 0.5 could be achieved. David on board 1 played with the black pieces and was able to gain a clear advantage early in the middlegame, which he did not let slip out of his hands again. On board 2 Arnav faced an equally stronger opponent. Both players played almost flawlessly, so that the game ended in a draw. Lukas on board 3 also achieved a win. Lukas needed only 21 moves to force his opponent to resign. Another win was achieved by Julius on board 4. He played the Scandinavian Defence. The game swayed back and forth until Julius was able to win the exchange. The opponent tried to defend over another 40 moves, but this ultimately proved unsuccessful.
