Three draws (Dr. Pouya Majdpour ½:½ Arthur Humbert, Jingfu Zhang ½:½ Fabian Kammer, Michael Schrimpl ½:½ Diana Bueckert) and a win by Andreas Moser over Angela Giesenberg made this success possible.
Arthur played against the Caro–Kann Defence. In the middlegame Arthur had a slightly worse position, but in the endgame he reached a draw despite being a pawn down.
Fabian played the Benoni Defence. In the middlegame Fabian had a slightly worse position, but he was able to equalise again in the endgame and drew.
Andreas played a strong opening and fianchettoed his bishop. The middlegame was relatively even. In the endgame Andreas captured a rook and won.
Diana played 1. d4 and reached an interesting opening. In the middlegame she had a small advantage, but in the end, even with an extra exchange, nothing more was possible in the endgame.
