Intense weekend: squad training camp, U14 hybrid tournament with DWZ evaluation with two teams, on Sunday an XP match for the U18 and another promotion in the Quarantine League

(rh) Since both active and passive players were allowed at the first DWZ tournament after a very long time, we were able to field two teams. Thankfully the FIDE arbiters Peter Gabriel (TSV Solln) and Suhel Abdalla (SG Vaterstetten) had agreed to help. At the very last second we had found a suitable venue after a series of cancellations. Thanks go to Klaus Braun. Since the squad training camp was taking place at the same time, we could not field our strongest team. With Niklas, Aaron, Benedikt, Vroni and Lucas we would have been the favourites.

But even so we were able to keep up well; in the overall standings our teams scored exactly 50% of the possible match points and finished 4th and 8th out of 12 teams. All in all it was a successful premiere and several players were able to improve their DWZ rating considerably.

The big question after the tournament was who would still take part in the U18 match. Basti could be relied on once again, as could Maja, Oli, Aaron and Maxim. The team played convincingly and finished 7th.

In the Quarantine League in the evening, it was unclear for a long time who would take part this time. With some delay, 12 team members came together. The two FMs Juan and Gabor led the team, supported by Pavel. In the end it was enough for 2nd place, with Gabor almost achieving a tournament performance of 2700. Juan also played very well; both led the overall scorer list. Andreas and Basti (!) outdid themselves that evening with 18 and 16 points respectively and finished 3rd and 7th in the team standings.
