Most successful participation at the Youth Individual Championship! Out of 11 starting places, there were in the end 6 qualifications for the Bavarian Championship
But it is not only the winners and qualifiers who deserve recognition. Above all I would like to highlight Ardian, who in the fourth round was allowed to face the overwhelming favourite Petro Lohvinov (about 2200 DWZ). He met his opponent on equal terms and delivered a great game; in the end he forced his opponent into a drawn position. Before the clock fell he claimed the increment; his opponent too had less than a minute on the clock. The 10 seconds of increment passed and Ardian’s move came too late. He lost on time, to his opponent’s great relief. It was a thrilling game and real sport. As far as I saw, Ardian alone managed to force Petro to the brink of a draw; Petro won his remaining games convincingly. Elias played only three times in this age group, since he sat out the first round and thus had 1.5 points after a draw and a win; with a further game won without a fight he reached 2.5, and in the last round he beat Alessandro Beckert and climbed to 3rd place. He thus completed our medal tally. Niklas, one age group below but, like the aforementioned Ardian and Elias, in our strong U20 team, also convincingly took the gold medal with five wins. Chapeau for the convincing performance. In the U14 Vroni managed a big surprise, namely second place after four convincing wins. Congratulations to her too! Vroni qualified as the best girl of her age group for the Bavarian Championship, so Simeon may also play. She was the only girl on a podium in the open tournament by age group.

That brings us to the U12. Here there is a similar story to tell as in the U18 with Ardian; again it is our player Tugce who, as his only opponent, almost outplays the eventual winner Noah, snatches the queen from her opponent and is clearly winning. In no other game is Noah behind. But it was also only the brink of defeat; his experience prevailed, he lay in wait for the next mistake and struck. Unfortunately a rook was hanging after the king came out of the pin. But we all congratulated her after the game. As a reward for this strong performance she qualified, as the second best girl of her age group, likewise for the Bavarian Championship. David Büchel drew with Noah after four wins and finished second, since Anna lost against Adrian on the second board. Last but not least the U10 must be mentioned. Daniel Hepp, our passive member from another chess district, gave up only half a point in total. Against his direct rival Emir, who also trains with Felix at our club on Tuesdays, Daniel prevailed. Jonas celebrated his debut in the age group, took 50% and received his first DWZ evaluation of 938. Congratulations on that too. Keep it up!
