Rapid chess in Ergolding and Garching with some successes
Especially in the U12 there was a rich harvest, with two golds and one bronze across the two tournaments. In Ergolding it was Tugrul and in Garching David, who after Deisenhofen won a well-attended rapid chess tournament for the second time. Tugrul has stabilised and also took bronze in Garching. In the U8 we are pleased about three who took part here. Barbara finished 5th in Ergolding and, in Garching, was able to get her revenge against Andrei and, with 6 out of 7, achieved second place. Michi, at his first tournament, scored 3.5 points in the last four rounds in Garching after three defeats against three more experienced players and landed in 10th place. Atreyu was 4th in the U8 in Ergolding (1st in the U6); in Garching he started in the U10 and still came in 14th out of 34 participants. He learned a bit more tournament toughness here, as some of his opponents were four years older. Saksham made it to 15th place behind him, after taking the points off Atreyu in the second round.
Here are the results:
U16 Ergolding U16-U18 Garching
U18-25 Ergolding
All in all, these were lovely tournaments ahead of the German Individual Championship and our 1st Classical Open at Whitsun. The registration list is slowly filling up. There are still about 10 free places. There is the option of joining after the MMM on Friday evening, starting only on Saturday for the second round with +1. Another attraction of the tournament is that the first four boards of the A tournament will be broadcast live!
