MMM, team cup, U14 championship, U20 Bayernliga and DVMs

It’s already been a month since I reported on the club’s activities. In the meantime, a lot has happened. Anian is settled in, and the club benefits from the collaboration. A few months ago I wouldn’t have thought it possible that we could employ him full-time. The DVM is casting its shadow ahead. A letter from the city has just arrived confirming the application for funding of the DVM U12. The project can be supported by the city up to an amount just below five figures. Many thanks for that and to Alexander, who submitted the application.

Anian will accompany the U10 and U12w to Berlin. Fortunately, we can field five in the U10. Kai has joined after all. Preparations are in full swing; Fabian and Saksham have recently shown themselves to be in excellent form, just like Barbara. The tournament in Höhenkirchen was very successful for these three. Barbara came second in her group, Saksham won the U12 and Fabian came third in the U10. On Saturdays, various groups train diligently, and the chess camp in the autumn holidays was also successful. Julio, Soham and Corbinian had contributed as coaches. With Soham we have an excellent coach for the Saturdays at the ASZ. In small groups we prepare for the upcoming tasks in the U20, U14, U12 and U10 teams. The U20 Bayernliga starts on Saturday against the Schachfreunde from Augsburg. Already on Friday there is a big home match for our four teams, with numbers three and four playing against each other. Some were able to warm up in the team cup last Sunday; there were mixed individual results, but two of four teams are through and get to play against Garching and Zugzwang on 4 December. The weekend of 3-4 December will again be very intensive, with two rounds in the U20 Bayernliga and the appearance in the team cup.

Both teams in the U14 championships met expectations last Saturday. The match against Zugzwang went narrowly to us, 2.5 to 1.5. The second team was convincing across the board and gave up only 1.5 points in three matches. We can build on this second guard in the future; we draw from a full pool here and can afford to send a player like Barbara home (she was unwell for a while) and successfully play on with the substitute. We had rotated so thoroughly that six players were used, five of them in two games, while Barbara and Fabian played one each.
