Outlook on the DVM in Berlin and Munich, a call for the Munich Chess Festival (crowdfunding and sponsoring) and the members' meeting / Christmas party on 17 December

The year is drawing to a close. Looking back, we can speak of the most successful year of our young club. But many challenges still await us, such as fielding three teams and hosting our own DVM in Munich. Thanks to many committed helpers, parents and Anian, everything is going according to plan so far. We are well prepared.

But we cannot stand still right now either. The next major event, intended to bring chess into the public consciousness, is in the planning stage. In doing so we are using and opening up new venues for chess tournaments. This year’s Laimer Open will be repeated and, on 26 May, will usher in the Munich Chess Festival. The tournament will be expanded. In the A-tournament we are expecting so many participants that the B- and C-tournaments of the Open will probably move to the nearby primary school. The school canteen, with a capacity of around 150 additional places, is earmarked for this. Nine rounds will be played, and the time control will be 90+60 in the A and 60+30 in the B and C Open. The prize fund amounts to 5000 euros.

On 30 June the final rounds of the 2nd Laimer Open will still be played, and at the same time the 1st Munich International Whitsun Open will begin in the banquet hall of the Kolpinghaus. For this Open in particular we expect very strong players in the A Open, as they will need to have a rating beyond 2000. The prize fund for this Open amounts to 20000 euros.

We call on all chess friends to support us in this endeavour. The crowdfunding campaign has already started. Anyone can acquire a share for 50 euros. This can be redeemed for a lecture or a simultaneous exhibition with a titled player. The goal for the simple share is to reach the number 200. In addition, 500 euros can also be donated. The tenfold share could be redeemed for a special event with a very well-known grandmaster.

There are also further ways in which a share can be redeemed: e.g. a month of chess school, individual training, exemption from entry fees at our tournaments, etc.

You can register here. The bank details and PayPal will also be published here.
