Farewell to the Bayernliga, but in return 1st place conquered in the A-Klasse with an extremely young team
On Friday the match against MSC4 was on the cards. Towards the end of the season both teams had to make cutbacks. For us not only the first but also the third board was missing. Tugrul this time had to defend board 1, something he now does with routine; he achieved a draw for the third time, this time against the strongest opponent with a rating of over 2100. Christoph chased the queen of his younger opponent on board 2; according to the observation of Blaz, who was also on a queen hunt, Christoph’s opponent would have had a winning path which, however, he did not find, and he had to head into the rook endgame an exchange down. Christoph won his 18th DWZ game. Blaz kept the tension up and went ahead with a piece for two pawns. Nevertheless he had to settle for a draw because of the opponent’s strong connected passed pawns. Ardian put his opponent under pressure, but the opponent was able to free himself with an exchange sacrifice and then found the winning path. On the remaining boards our players achieved the full point. On this Friday we were probably out with the youngest team in the history of the A-Klasse. The average age of our team was about 20 years. MSC 4 had at least two U18 players; the others were considerably older.
After Garching5’s surprising win against Bayern6, we slipped into 1st place. The next guest will be the Bayern-conqueror Garching5. On 24 March we will measure ourselves against them.
In the Bayernliga things did not yet run entirely smoothly in the first year. Dominik and Corbinian were allowed to play their final rounds in the U20 team. Relegation was sealed in the direct comparison with Kelheim. Ardian was overplayed and lost; Niklas, to our surprise, also lost after a strong unbeaten run. Lukas and Tugrul were in form on that day and took the points. Leon also lost surprisingly. Dominik’s game hung by a thread in an advantageous endgame; in the final-sprint phase he could not bring home the win. Nevertheless we are satisfied and will attack next year in the Landesliga across four boards. We will meet our fellow relegated team Garching.
The weekend before, the U20 Bezirksliga took place, in which we participated with four teams. There was a big surprise. We defeated Zugzwang 3–1. Florian turned it on that day and took both points. Leon managed a win against Edwin and Dominik also won. The individual result of Jonas, who won against Veda, was a further surprise.
