On the home straight in the MMM, 1st and 2nd teams lead the table! U20 league and blitz championship
Which oracle would have predicted before the season that both of our teams would lead the table shortly before the end and would each meet their pursuer in the last or second-to-last round? Looking back, the key experience was right in the first round, when the 1st team had earned a respectable 4–4 against Bayern with 7 and came dangerously close to victory in doing so. After that, in the style of a great team, many hard-fought “dirty” wins followed. Thanks to the help of the Garching team, who first beat Bayern and in the last round turned up against us with only 5 players, this constellation came about. Our next opponent BSW Neuhausen has, to top it all off, also beaten Bayern and fought its way into 2nd place. So there will be two finals in the next round. The 2nd team also plays away against the runners-up Tarrasch. We are looking forward to this constellation!
We finished the U20 league by the skin of our teeth; there were many cancellations, so that instead of 16 only 10 had played, and we lost two matches by default. Through the chess school we have the justified hope that we will be able to fill the teams completely next season.
The blitz championship was very successful; from our members the following made it onto the podium: Niklas (U18) and Tugrul (U14) finished 1st. Leon (14) and Emir (U12) finished 2nd. Saksham (U12) landed in 3rd place.
