The chess festival casts its shadow ahead, the registration lists are filling up, there is not much time left
Here once again is the background information. We start with a press conference on 20 May at the Pelkovenschlössl. With an invitation, one will be able to attend on this date. Some from the top of the seeding list, famous personalities of the chess scene and we ourselves will answer questions. Afterwards there will be a drinks reception.
The opening event takes place on 25 May at the chess academy on Zweibrückenstr. Here we welcome the first grandmasters and will listen to a lecture by Stefan Kindermann.
On 26 May the set-up at the ASZ Laim begins at 2 p.m.; four hours later the B-tournament will be started here. The list will be closed at 60.
At the same time, from the morning of 26 May, Marc Lang will set up the DGT boards at the youth hostel. At 4:30 p.m. there will be the opening event for everyone here. At 6 p.m. the tournament will also be opened here.
From 27 to 30 May the youngsters play their own Open in the A- and B-tournament.
On 30 May all tournaments move to the Gymnasium München/Moosach for the final rounds and will be concluded here.
On 31 May everyone warms up for the main tournament at the Alter Wirt. Here the blitz tournament takes place from 10 a.m.
In the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. the main tournament will be opened. The A-group plays in the assembly hall and the B-group in the gymnasium.
The very next day, International Children’s Day, the boards set up will be reused at the large school chess and children’s tournament. There are many trophies, gifts and medals for everyone.
On 4 June the rapid Opens for youngsters take place in the assembly hall of the Gymnasium München Moosach and for adults in the gymnasium.
There will be repeated opportunities to play a simultaneous exhibition with grandmasters; in addition there is a supporting programme, mostly in the mornings.
