Three teams at the ASZ!

We were there early on Friday; the material from the DWZ tournament could be set up directly from my car. The second team played against Bayern5. We played for the first time, still as Schachfreunde München e.V. 1 with Stephan on board 1, against Bayern’s 8th and achieved the highest win. There then followed the legendary 4 to 4 in the promotion season in Class A, with an unoccupied board and a legendary game on board 1 against what was then Bayern’s 6th team. Caused by forced relegations, we now hosted the same team. For Christoph it was thus a reunion; he had this time the strongest player in the league in front of him on the first board and could achieve little. Despite the result – it ended clearly 5.5 to 2.5 against us – the gap between the two clubs has shrunk. For now our 2nd played against Bayern’s 5th. So far there had been one draw and one defeat for our 2nd team against Bayern’s 9th and 8th respectively.

On the course of play: four boards were lost one after another, Marcus, Christoph, Jochen and Neyan last giving up or resigning the point. Only then could Kayra reduce the deficit in an exciting game with time trouble on both sides. For Anton it also went well; he too brought the point home. Leon laboured but couldn’t get beyond a draw. Jürgen could, with less material, exert some pressure on the king, but it wasn’t enough for a perpetual check. All in all the 2nd now has the two strongest teams behind it. Similar to in the Regionalliga, the team will need a liberating blow in the next round.

The 3rd team played against Eching’s 1st, who also did not line up at full strength. Smrithi lost on 1, as did Andreas on board 2. Bruno did his job well at the back and brought the point home. Wynnie could have won but had to settle for a draw in the end. Anton won against Peter. Antonios lost early and Corbinian managed a draw. Half a point more and the next match point would have been in the bag, but as it was it ended 3-4.

The 4th team did the best that evening and took its first win against Vaterstetten 1. Only Oliver and Maxim lost this time; the others took the points surprisingly confidently.
