Tournaments of recent weeks: DEM, chess festival with norm tournaments, and two Opens, namely the Pentecost Open and the Open Munich District Championship
The Munich norm tournaments took place at the Jugendherberge München City. Here Milan Pacher was represented as a GM in one of the IM groups. He played a mixed norm tournament; there were a total of three wins, three draws and three defeats and a slight Elo minus. At the second tournament, the norm tournaments dedicated to Wolfgang Unzicker, Namik also played alongside Milan. For him there were three defeats, one win and five draws; he narrowly held his Elo with this result. For Milan there were two wins, four draws and three defeats. He won back the lost points at the Open District Championship, which ended on Saturday. He won all 9 games and thus also became Munich champion! Into the prize ranks made it new member Maxim Machlin and Maxim Lorbeer. Maxim M came 5th and Maxim L won the rating prize under 1700.
A delegation of the club also took part in the German Individual Championship. Leo in the U8, Bruno in the U10 and Smrithi in the U14. We were in good hope, but a national championship is always hard; despite the DWZ superiority there are no easy opponents, everyone is highly motivated. Leo held on longest; in the final round everything was still open, and with a win a place in the top three would have been possible. But it was not to be.
Bruno and Smrithi started well; the second half of the tournament was hard for both. For Bruno it was the first participation in a DEM, which alone is to be regarded as a huge success. Everyone comes out of these tournaments strengthened.
At the Pentecost Open A we had Tugrul and the passive members Arthur and Aaron at the start. Arthur coped best with the opponents. He took 4 points and a 25 Elo gain, Tugrul 3.5 points, and the hardest time was had by Aaron, who also took 3.5 points.
In the B-tournament Zdravko (10th), Lukas (25th), Saksham (35th), Mohammed (40th), Kayra (46th), Neyan (58th), Jochen (59th), Mohammedreza (62nd), Andreas (75th), Fedor (78th) and Patil (85th) took part. Lukas started brilliantly with 4.5 out of 5 but let up in the second half. Zdrako kept everything open until the end, unfortunately lost in the final round and came 10th. All in all it was a very strong international tournament.
The biggest DWZ gainer is Maxim Lorbeer, who probably gained more than 150 DWZ points.
